Marvel fans, brace yourselves: the future of Deadpool and Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) just got a huge boost straight from the top. During a recent roundtable discussion for Fantastic Four, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige gave an enthusiastic nod to the ongoing involvement of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine—two of the franchise’s most iconic and beloved characters.
Collider’s Steve Weintraub pressed Feige on whether behind-the-scenes talks were underway to keep the duo in the MCU beyond their current appearances. Feige didn’t hold back. “There have absolutely been discussions. We’re in touch with Ryan a lot. So the answer is yes,” he confirmed, signaling that the merc-with-a-mouth and the clawed mutant aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
The Marvel boss also cleverly referenced Wolverine’s infamous line from Deadpool & Wolverine, saying Jackman would be reprising the role “till he’s 90, man.” This is especially notable given that Jackman’s return in the multiverse-hopping Deadpool & Wolverine was initially thought to be a one-off reunion. Now, it looks like fans can expect more from the duo as Marvel continues to weave their stories into its expanding universe.
Jackman himself is keeping fans on the edge of their seats. When asked directly on The View by Sunny Hostin about whether he would appear in Marvel’s next big crossover, Avengers: Doomsday (set for December 18, 2026), the actor gave a playful, cryptic response:
“I really can’t say much, except when you say ‘appear’, [it’s] more like dominate and destroy every other character — I’m kidding. I really have nothing to add, and if I did, I would find a really cool way to not say it, but I actually have nothing to add.”
In Marvel-speak, that’s practically an open secret. Jackman’s coyness fits the familiar pattern of actors who teased their involvement months before surprising audiences with their returns—think Andrew Garfield, Patrick Stewart, and Tobey Maguire. With Avengers: Doomsday already confirmed to feature X-Men veterans like Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden, Wolverine’s absence would certainly be felt by fans.
As the MCU gears up for its next colossal chapter, fans can rest assured that Deadpool and Wolverine are very much part of Marvel’s long-term plan. Whether they’ll make their mark in Avengers: Doomsday or beyond, the excitement around their futures continues to build.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026. Stay tuned for more updates and in-depth coverage of Fantastic Four all week long.
