Hollywood icon Harrison Ford may be best known for his gruff charm and legendary roles in Indiana Jones and Star Wars, but this week, it’s his softer side that’s stealing the show.
In a heartwarming turn of events that has fans swooning, Ford, 83, celebrated the 2025 Emmy nominations with the kind of endearing enthusiasm one might not expect from the famously low-key actor. His Shrinking castmates, Jessica Williams and Michael Urie, shared screenshots of Ford’s congratulatory texts—and they’re just as wholesome as you’d hope.
Ford, Urie, and Williams all scored Emmy nominations for their roles in Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed comedy Shrinking, which racked up a total of seven nods this year. Ford and Urie are both first-time Emmy nominees in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category, while Williams received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress.
Urie, 44, who plays Jimmy’s exuberant best friend Brian, posted a text exchange with Ford to his Instagram on Tuesday, July 15. It began with a simple, ecstatic “DUUUUUDE” from Urie. Ford’s response? Just as playful:
“duuuuuude…./ u 2 ?!” he wrote. “congrats Michael so well deserved !”
Fans were quick to note that Ford has his read receipts turned on, making the moment even more charming. In an industry where digital poise is everything, the read receipt somehow makes Ford’s joy feel even more genuine.
Meanwhile, Williams, 35, shared her own delightful message from Ford. Though her side of the conversation wasn’t shown, his response was pure gold:
“Congrats on YOUR NOMINATION….you silly Girl. XXOO”
The actress, who plays therapist Gaby in the series, included the text in an Instagram slideshow that also featured a gleeful FaceTime screenshot with Urie. Her caption brimmed with gratitude:
“Wow. Our crew rules. Our cast is amazing. Our writers are everything. There is no Gaby without everyone else. We all depend on each other,” she wrote. “CONGRATULATIONS to our family and team! …GUESS IM THAT SILLY GIRL!!!”
The love didn’t stop there. Urie also shared his own heartfelt statement about the recognition:
“I already have the best job in the world, but to be recognized alongside titans of the industry (including and especially my fellow cast mates Harrison, Jason [Segel], and Jessica) is next-level-thrilling,” he said. “I’m so proud to be nominated alongside Jeff [Hiller], Bowen [Yang] and Colman [Domingo]—and also Ebon [Moss-Bachrach], Ike [Barinholtz] and Harrison, even though they’re straight.”
Created by Segel, Brett Goldstein, and Bill Lawrence, Shrinking follows therapist Jimmy (Segel) as he breaks traditional therapeutic boundaries in the wake of personal grief. Ford’s Dr. Paul Rhoades and Williams’ Gaby serve as his colleagues and anchors, while Urie brings heart and humor as Jimmy’s fiercely loyal best friend.
The show has been a breakout success for Apple TV+, earning nominations in major categories including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor for Segel. It’s up against stiff competition including The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Hacks, and Only Murders in the Building.
Still, the real win this week might just be the bond between the Shrinking cast—a group that clearly cherishes their time together both on- and off-screen. And with Harrison Ford sending “XXOO” texts, it’s safe to say Emmy season has never felt this sweet.
