Jason Momoa and Adria Arjona are embarking on an exciting new chapter in their careers. On June 26, the couple was named among 534 artists and industry executives invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences—the exclusive organization responsible for voting on the annual Oscars.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE, Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang praised the new class for their remarkable contributions to the film industry. “We are thrilled to invite this esteemed class of artists, technologists, and professionals to join the Academy,” they said. “Through their commitment to filmmaking and to the greater movie industry, these exceptionally talented individuals have made indelible contributions to our global filmmaking community.”

Momoa, celebrated for his powerful roles in Aquaman and Dune, and Arjona, recognized for her work in Hit Man and Blink Twice, represent a diverse and dynamic addition to the Academy’s ranks. Other notable invitees this year include recent Oscar nominees and winners such as Ariana Grande, Kieran Culkin, Mikey Madison, Monica Barbaro, and Sebastian Stan.

The couple, who publicly confirmed their relationship in May 2024, have been seen together on several high-profile occasions. Their red carpet debut came during the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special in February 2025. More recently, they attended the Cannes Film Festival in May for the premiere of Arjona’s film Splitsville, alongside co-star Dakota Johnson.

Arjona captured the moment’s significance on Instagram, writing, “I love that I got to share such a special moment with my love and my forever favorite date @prideofgypsies ❤️,” tagging Momoa’s account. She also showed her support at the London premiere of Momoa’s A Minecraft Movie alongside his mother, Coni, in March.

According to an exclusive source speaking to PEOPLE, the couple’s relationship is “real” and “genuine.” “He cares about her,” the source said. “She’s good to him—and a lovely and genuine person and real like he is. She has a good sense of humor and is easy to be with. They relate to each other.”

Jason Momoa, 44, was previously married to actress Lisa Bonet. The couple separated in January 2022 and filed for divorce in January 2024. They share two children: daughter Lola, 17, and son Nakoa-Wolf, 15.

As Momoa and Arjona join the ranks of the Academy, their evolving partnership and professional achievements mark a promising and influential presence in Hollywood’s future.
