Mark Wahlberg Teases $6.7 Billion NFL Ownership Buy-In to Join Tom Brady with the Raiders

Mark Wahlberg, longtime Boston sports fan and Hollywood heavyweight, is hinting at a major new role off the screen—potentially joining his good friend Tom Brady as an NFL minority owner with the Las Vegas Raiders. The actor and producer dropped the tease during a recent episode of Card Shopping alongside Brady, sparking excitement about a possible $6.7 billion ownership stake.

“It’s crazy because, I know people are going to give me a lot of s—t for this,” Wahlberg said candidly. “But I live in Vegas. Tom’s got a piece of the Raiders. A lot of my friends got a piece of the Raiders. I went to six home games last year.” Wahlberg, who admits he “didn’t make it to any New England games because I live far away,” even joked about his golf cart now being painted black—the Raiders’ signature color.

“You did it on purpose,” Brady quipped, to which Wahlberg replied, “We put the Municipal logos instead of the Raiders logo. But listen, could easily find me being, listen, I’m on the home team, so.”

The “home team” for Wahlberg is now decidedly silver and black—a marked shift from his Boston sports allegiance, where he famously supported the New England Patriots and Red Sox. His relationship with Brady began amid those Patriots’ Super Bowl victories, with Wahlberg cheering on Brady through six championship wins.

Brady bought a minority stake in the Raiders in 2023 and has emphasized that he’s “just a limited partner” with majority owner Mark Davis calling the shots. “Mark’s the boss,” Brady told Raiders.com, adding that he serves as a “great sounding board” for organizational decisions. Davis praised Brady’s competitive spirit and intellect, calling him “a bright young man” and highlighting the mutual benefits of their partnership.

Brady’s enthusiasm for the Raiders’ new direction is evident. He lauded Davis for bringing the team to Vegas and building the stadium and praised the coaching staff, especially head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek. While Brady’s exact involvement in hiring Carroll and Spytek remains under wraps, he stressed how well the duo collaborates and how their offseason work sets the foundation for success.

“Winning games in September starts with what happens in February, March and April, when no one’s really watching,” Brady said. “There’s a lot of good opponents we face. But it’s going to be up to the guys and their daily commitment to doing the right things.”

As the Raiders usher in a new era on and off the field, the prospect of an A-list Hollywood star like Mark Wahlberg joining the ownership ranks adds a compelling twist to their story. Whether Wahlberg’s teased buy-in becomes reality, one thing is clear: the Silver and Black’s future looks both bright and star-studded.
