Emma Heming, wife of Hollywood legend Bruce Willis, is giving fans a tender look at her family’s summer getaway as they soak up precious moments before the girls head back to school. While their primary home is in Los Angeles, the family often retreats to Idaho—a place with long-standing ties to Bruce and his ex-wife Demi Moore—and Emma recently shared a heartfelt glimpse of their time there.

Over the Fourth of July weekend, Heming posted a sweet video on Instagram featuring her daughters Mabel Ray, 13, and Evelyn Penn, 11. Set to Otis Redding’s soulful “Try a Little Tenderness,” the clip captures the trio sharing goofy poses during a hike, surrounded by breathtaking mountain vistas. “9010’ above sea level,” Emma captioned the video, highlighting the stunning views of Mt. Baldy in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Fans quickly flooded the comments with warm messages. “The views from the top of Mt. Baldy are gorgeous! Sun Valley is a special place!” one admirer wrote, while others chimed in with encouragement like “Enjoy!! You deserve it!!!” and “Beautiful family!! God bless and protect you all.”

Emma and Bruce, who married in 2009, share their two daughters, while Bruce is also father to three older daughters—Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah—with ex-wife Demi Moore. Their Idaho connection runs deep, with properties owned by both Bruce and Demi for decades.

A Journey of Strength and Hope

Amid this serene family moment, Emma is preparing for a profoundly personal milestone: the release of her upcoming book, The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope and Yourself on the Caregiving Path. The memoir honors Bruce and chronicles their courageous journey through his diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a rare and progressive neurological disease.

Bruce’s health struggles became public in 2022 when he was first diagnosed with aphasia, a condition affecting communication. The diagnosis was later updated to FTD, a terminal disease that currently has no cure.

Last year, Emma opened up to Town & Country about navigating this difficult chapter and how she has approached explaining Bruce’s condition to their children. “I’m trying to find that balance between the grief and the sadness that I feel, which can just crack open at any given moment, and finding joy,” she said.

She shared the importance of transparency with their daughters, saying, “They’ve grown up with Bruce declining over the years. I’m not trying to shield them from it.” Emma emphasized that if their children ask questions, it’s a sign they’re ready to understand, adding, “If we could see that Bruce was struggling, I would address it with the kids so they could understand.”

Despite the heartbreak, Emma is committed to educating and supporting her family through the challenges of the disease, acknowledging its severity: “This disease is chronic, progressive, and terminal. There is no cure,” though she notes she avoids discussing the terminal aspect directly with their daughters since they haven’t asked.

A Family Embracing Every Moment

Emma Heming’s recent Instagram glimpse of her family’s Idaho summer getaway provides a touching reminder of the love and strength holding the Willis family together. As they navigate the ups and downs of Bruce’s health journey, moments like these—surrounded by nature and each other—offer hope, joy, and precious memories amid difficult times.

With her book soon to be released, Emma continues to inspire others facing caregiving challenges, showing that even in the shadow of illness, love and resilience shine through.
