As CBS reshuffles its lineup for the fall 2025 season, fans of The Equalizer starring Queen Latifah are left holding their breath. While several long-running shows like FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, S.W.A.T., and Poppa’s House have officially been canceled, the fate of The Equalizer remains uncertain — though there’s still hope for one more chapter.

Premiering in 2021, The Equalizer has built a loyal audience over five seasons. As Season 5 gears up for its finale on May 4, CBS has yet to officially announce whether the show will return for a sixth season. According to Deadline, financial considerations have been a major hurdle, but Queen Latifah has reportedly agreed to concessions that could improve the show’s renewal odds.

Even if The Equalizer is renewed, it seems the end may be near. Reports suggest that CBS is eyeing a 13-episode sixth season that would serve as the series’ final bow. For comparison, Seasons 1 and 4 each had 10 episodes, while Seasons 2, 3, and 5 expanded to 18 episodes, making 13 a middle-ground farewell.

As for franchise expansion, there’s some disappointment. CBS has decided not to move forward with the previously planned Equalizer spinoff, which would have starred Titus Welliver and Juani Feliz. The April 20 episode featuring the two was intended as a backdoor pilot, but despite initial buzz, the network passed on the project.

For now, The Equalizer continues to air Sundays at 10/9c on CBS, with fans eagerly awaiting an official decision. Whether it’s the end of the road or a brief extension, Queen Latifah’s Robyn McCall has undoubtedly left her mark — and viewers are hoping she gets the send-off she deserves.
