The Equalizer has just shared an exciting first look at Bosch star Titus Welliver, who is set to make his debut on the hit show in an upcoming episode, paving the way for a possible spin-off. According to Deadline, Welliver will appear in episode 516 of the rebooted series, titled Sins of Our Father, which is set to air on April 20. His character is expected to play a key role in the development of a potential spin-off, alongside The Equalizer‘s lead, Queen Latifah.

In newly released images from the episode, Welliver is seen alongside Latifah’s character, Robyn McCall, with a mysterious silhouette in the background that is believed to be Juani Feliz, another key figure in the potential spin-off. Both Welliver and Feliz are being positioned as leads for the spin-off, though the series has yet to receive a formal order.

Welliver’s character, Hudson Reed, is a former top CIA operative harboring a dark secret. His past is intertwined with Latifah’s character through an old mentor, suggesting a deep connection between the two. Meanwhile, Feliz will portray Samantha Reed, a martial artist with a mysterious background, who was trained by her father to be a weapons expert.

An additional image shared from the episode shows a more intimate moment between Welliver and Latifah, with her character standing over his as they share a hot beverage. This interaction hints at the complexity of their relationship, as both characters are drawn into a web of intrigue and secrets.

For Welliver, this new role marks a departure from his beloved portrayal of the titular detective in Bosch: Legacy. The actor recently bid farewell to playing television’s “grumpiest detective” in the final season of Prime Video’s Bosch spin-off. The third season of Bosch: Legacy, which debuted last month, was met with critical acclaim, with Collider praising it for “going out on the highest of notes.” The show’s gritty portrayal of Los Angeles’ criminal underbelly and Welliver’s no-nonsense performance made for a satisfying conclusion to his time as Detective Harry Bosch.

With Welliver’s transition into the world of The Equalizer, fans are eager to see how his character will fit into the fast-paced, action-packed world of Robyn McCall. Whether or not the spin-off moves forward remains to be seen, but the potential for a new chapter in this universe is certainly intriguing.
