Baking Away the Drama: Blake Lively Turns to Food for Comfort During Legal Battles!

Blake Lively may be embroiled in a highly public legal battle, but she’s finding solace in her favorite activity—baking. Amid ongoing drama surrounding her lawsuit against It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni, Lively has turned to the kitchen to find peace and comfort.
On Saturday, March 28, Lively shared a moment of calm on her Instagram Stories, posting a picture of her baking session with some close friends. “Baking with genius food friends and their kitchen mixer the size of a car,” Lively captioned the photo, adding, “this is what my happy place looks like,” along with a playful “TBD” sticker. The snapshot reflected her love for baking, a hobby that has long brought her joy.
Lively, 37, has always had a passion for the culinary arts, something she’s previously discussed in interviews. In 2014, she told Vogue that her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, affectionately referred to their home as “The Blakery” due to her constant baking. The couple, who share four children, have built a life around family and food, with Lively noting that her mother’s impressive cooking skills inspired her deep connection to food. “Food is probably the most central part of my life,” Lively said in a 2024 Vogue interview while preparing her signature Key Lime Pie. “Food and family, but those are completely intertwined because food was so important to me growing up.”
While Lively finds respite in her kitchen, she has been dealing with a turbulent legal dispute with Baldoni. In December 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment, and attempting to destroy her reputation. Baldoni, 41, has denied all allegations and filed a $400 million defamation suit against Lively and Reynolds.
The couple responded to the accusations by denouncing the claims and filing a motion to dismiss Baldoni’s lawsuit earlier this month. Lively’s attorneys released a statement asserting that Baldoni’s lawsuit was an abuse of the legal process. “This lawsuit is a profound abuse of the legal process that has no place in federal court,” they said in the statement to Us Weekly. “California law now expressly prohibits suing victims who make the decision to speak out against sexual harassment or retaliation, whether in a lawsuit or in the press.” The attorneys further criticized Baldoni’s defamation suit as “meritless” and “retaliatory,” adding that it created more liability for Baldoni’s legal team.
As the legal battle continues, a trial is scheduled to take place in May 2026, though a judge has yet to rule on the dismissal requests filed by Lively and Reynolds.
In the midst of this complex and stressful situation, Lively’s return to baking with friends serves as a reminder of the grounding power of family and hobbies. Whether she’s baking up a storm in her kitchen or facing off in a courtroom, Lively remains focused on the things that bring her peace—her family, food, and the support of those closest to her.
