Elizabeth Olsen, known for her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and her passionate fandom for the Los Angeles Dodgers, shared a humorous and relatable moment on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon about missing her usual intense cheering during the World Series. The actress, who underwent a laparoscopy procedure around the same time as the Fall Classic, revealed that her surgery kept her from fully participating in her beloved ritual of aggressively rooting for her team.

During her appearance on the March 20 episode of The Tonight Show, Olsen explained how she had to hold back her excitement despite her Dodgers performing well. “The characters on the Dodgers are so lovable,” she said, expressing her admiration for the team. However, her joy was tempered by the fact that she was recovering from the minimally invasive surgery, a laparoscopy, which is often used to examine or treat conditions affecting the pelvic or abdominal organs.

Olsen went on to say, “I had the worst time when I was watching the World Series because your team was so good,” addressing Fallon, a New York Yankees fan, who acknowledged that his team was defeated by the Dodgers. She added, “I had just had a laparoscopy procedure… I’m fine. But I had that. And I was so bummed because it was in the middle of the World Series, and I’m a very aggressive cheerer at home, and I was so sad that I wasn’t gonna be able to do my normal, you know, jumping out of the sofa thing.”

Although Olsen didn’t go into further details about the reason for her surgery, she reassured fans that she was recovering well. A laparoscopy typically involves the insertion of a small camera through the abdomen to examine or treat medical conditions. After the procedure, it’s common for patients to experience abdominal pain and be advised to limit physical activity for a few days—something that directly impacted Olsen’s ability to cheer for her Dodgers as she normally would.

Luckily for Olsen, the World Series extended long enough for her to resume her enthusiastic support. “I was just able to cheer by the time we got to the final game,” she said, humorously recounting how she eventually got back to her spirited cheering once she was physically able to do so.

To further illustrate her devotion to her team, Fallon showed a picture of Olsen and her husband, Robbie Arnett, watching the game together at home. Olsen was seen sitting on the couch in a white bathrobe embroidered with “Go Dodgers,” while Arnett wore a team cap and shirt. “That’s not all of our merchandise,” Olsen admitted, giving a lighthearted glimpse into her true passion for the Dodgers.

“I love that you’re so into it,” Fallon commented on her enthusiasm, to which Olsen responded, “I’m so into Dodger season,” prompting Fallon to gently correct her, saying, “Baseball season.”

Olsen’s candid remarks about her experience highlight her deep connection to the Dodgers and the lengths to which she goes to support her team, even in challenging circumstances. For fans, it’s a reminder of how sports can be a shared passion that transcends all, even surgical recovery.
