The latest episode of The Voice delivered emotional highs, heartfelt tributes, and a surprising team shake-up as Michael Bublé made his final steal of the season — and couldn’t help but draw a charming comparison between his newest contestant and fellow coach Niall Horan.
🎤 A Steal That Struck a Chord
During the Monday, October 27 episode, the “Haven’t Met You Yet” singer used his last remaining steal to bring Jack Austin — previously on Team Niall — onto his roster. The moment came after Austin’s impressive performance during the battle rounds, where he competed alongside trio Dek of Hearts.
Although Horan ultimately chose to advance Dek of Hearts, praising their extraordinary three-part harmony, Bublé couldn’t resist stepping in.
“Jack just showed way too much potential for me not to use my steal,” said Bublé, 50. “You know, he actually kind of reminds me of a young Niall. And I just need to know now how best to set him up so he gets as far as possible on The Voice.”
The warm exchange highlighted the mutual respect between coaches and set the stage for a promising new chapter in Austin’s Voice journey.
🎶 Team Niall’s Harmony Wins the Round
Horan, known for his own success as part of One Direction, explained his reasoning for choosing Dek of Hearts over Austin.
“I had to choose Dek of Hearts — their three-part harmony is beyond belief,” Horan said. “I’ve never had a trio. I obviously come from a band, so I know how to make a big harmony like that. That’s part of my world.”
The trio’s cohesive sound and musical chemistry clearly struck a chord with Horan, though the Irish coach expressed admiration for Austin’s solo talent as well.
💔 Reba McEntire’s Emotional Moment
Later in the episode, Reba McEntire shared a deeply personal moment following a moving performance by contestant Aubrey Nicole, who sang Martina McBride’s “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.” The song, which tells the story of a woman facing a cancer diagnosis and her husband’s devotion, hit especially close to home for McEntire.
Fighting back tears, the country legend revealed her connection to the song and reflected on her late stepson, Brandon Blackstock, who passed away from melanoma on August 7 at age 48.
“Martina’s a good friend of mine. I lost my oldest son because he did not win with cancer,” McEntire said softly. “That was a real reminder that life goes on, and we sing songs about it so we can remember the ones around us that we love so much — that we lean on at times like this.”
McEntire later told PEOPLE that her relationship with Brandon was “precious,” describing him as someone who “brought joy to everybody that met him.”
🌟 The Voice of Connection
The night encapsulated what makes The Voice such an enduring favorite: musical mentorship, emotional storytelling, and authentic human connection.
From Bublé’s strategic steal and heartfelt praise to McEntire’s tender tribute, the episode proved that behind every note lies a story — one of talent, loss, and love that resonates far beyond the stage.
The Voice airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
