Queen Latifah, the multifaceted entertainer and trailblazer, has added a significant honor to her illustrious career. On July 9, she was announced as a member of the 2025 Honorary Member class of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.—one of the most esteemed recognitions bestowed by the historic Black sorority.

Honorary Membership is reserved for women who have made extraordinary contributions to society and have excelled as leaders in their fields. This year’s class not only includes Queen Latifah but also notable figures such as political strategist Donna Brazile, actress Danielle Brooks, entrepreneur Fawn Weaver, business leader Janice Bryant Howroyd, Olympic legend Jackie Joyner-Kersee, WNBA star Swintayla “Swin” Cash, and tech executive Toni Townes-Whitley.

Founded in 1913 by 22 collegiate women at Howard University, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has grown into a global organization with over 350,000 initiated members and more than 1,050 chapters worldwide. The sorority boasts an impressive roster of notable members including former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, the late Cicely Tyson and Aretha Franklin, journalist Joy-Ann Reid, and artists like Ledisi, Keisha Knight Pulliam, Andra Day, and K. Michelle.

“This year’s class of Honorary Members represents a powerhouse group of barrier-breaking women across politics, entertainment, business, sports, and social impact,” said Delta Sigma Theta International President Elsie Cooke-Holmes. She praised the honorees as embodying “excellence, service, and the unwavering pursuit of justice and equity,” highlighting their impact across boardrooms, stages, and grassroots movements.

For Queen Latifah—who has long been celebrated for her achievements as a singer, actress, producer, and advocate—this honorary membership in Delta Sigma Theta marks yet another milestone recognizing her leadership and dedication to empowering communities.

The 2025 Honorary Member class stands as a testament to Delta Sigma Theta’s ongoing mission to foster social change and celebrate women who inspire through their trailblazing work and commitment to justice
