Sylvester Stallone Says He “Owes It” to Wife Jennifer to Move to Florida — Even Though “It’s Not Easy for Me”

Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone and his wife of nearly 27 years, Jennifer Flavin Stallone, have traded the West Coast for the Sunshine State — a move the couple revealed during the season two premiere of their reality series The Family Stallone on February 21, 2024.
From California Roots to Palm Beach Luxury
The Stallones’ new permanent home is in Palm Beach, Florida, a $35.38 million estate they purchased through a trust in December 2020. The property — complete with a gated lakefront main residence, two outbuildings, a swimming pool, whirlpool spa, outdoor loggias, and 254 feet of Intracoastal Waterway frontage — underwent extensive renovations before becoming their primary residence.
The relocation marks a dramatic shift for Stallone, 77, who has spent decades rooted in California, where many of his most significant career milestones took place.
The Emotional Motivation Behind the Move
For Jennifer, 55, the decision was personal. With their three daughters — Sophia (27), Sistine (25), and Scarlet (21) — all living away from home, she said she was experiencing empty nest syndrome. In The Family Stallone, she shared,
“I raised all three of our daughters in California. Everything’s a memory to me, memories of them not being there anymore.”
Scarlet now studies at the University of Miami, while Sophia and Sistine live together in New York City. The change in family dynamics prompted Jennifer to seek a “big change” — a sentiment that, despite initial reluctance, her husband embraced.
On the show, Stallone told viewers,
“No matter how I’m feeling, I owe it to Jen to go through this move.”
Clearing the Air on the Reasons
Jennifer has been clear in interviews, including with Fox News Digital in December 2023, that the move was not about crime rates or politics.
“There’s crime everywhere… you can find it anywhere you look, even in small towns,” she said, emphasizing that the decision was rooted in lifestyle and personal needs rather than external factors.
Despite this, political figures weighed in. In March 2024, Casey DeSantis, wife of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, welcomed the Stallones via social media, framing the move within Florida’s “freedom” narrative.
A Backdrop of Marital Challenges and Renewal
The move also follows a turbulent chapter in the couple’s marriage. In August 2022, Jennifer filed for divorce after 25 years, citing irreconcilable differences. By September, they reconciled, settling their differences out of court in Florida.
In his November 2023 Netflix documentary Sly, Stallone reflected on feeling complacent in California, saying he needed to “do something drastic” to reignite his creativity — a mindset that may have dovetailed with Jennifer’s desire for a fresh start.

For Stallone, the relocation may be a bittersweet departure from the state that shaped his career, but as he put it, the decision was as much about love as it was about lifestyle: “I owe it to Jen.” And in the end, it’s a new chapter for both — one written not on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but along Florida’s sunny waterfront.
