Mark Wahlberg is back as Dan Morgan in the upcoming sequel The Family Plan 2, reprising his role as a former assassin turned suburban dad. While fans anticipate the family’s new adventures in Europe, Wahlberg has shared a humorous behind-the-scenes tidbit about the film’s unique PG-13 profanity rule—and how he missed out on delivering the movie’s lone F-bomb.
In PG-13 films, only one instance of strong profanity is allowed, and in The Family Plan 2, that moment belongs to Michelle Monaghan’s character. Wahlberg admitted he was a bit disappointed not to be the one to drop the F-word, especially since he had multiple chances during filming. “There’s actually a sizzle reel of me trying to land that line,” he joked, lightheartedly poking fun at the director’s decision to give the singular F-bomb to Monaghan.
The sequel sees the Morgan family traveling to Europe for a Christmas vacation, where Dan’s past catches up with him, setting off unexpected challenges. Alongside Wahlberg and Monaghan, Kit Harington joins the cast, adding fresh energy to the action-comedy dynamic. Directed by Simon Cellan Jones and penned by David Coggeshall, The Family Plan 2 promises a blend of family fun, action, and humor.
Though Wahlberg didn’t get to deliver the movie’s sole strong profanity, his playful reflection adds a fun layer to the anticipation surrounding the sequel. Fans can look forward to more of Dan Morgan’s explosive—and now slightly more polite—antics when The Family Plan 2 hits theaters.
