Billie Eilish Hits a Major Chart Milestone for Only the Second Time

Billie Eilish’s latest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in mid-2024, marking her first full-length project to miss the top spot on this fiercely competitive chart. Yet, despite not reaching No. 1, the album has proven remarkably enduring, producing two of Eilish’s longest-running hits on the Billboard Hot 100—a feat she has only achieved twice in her career.
“Wildflower” Reaches One Year on the Hot 100
“Wildflower,” the likely final single from Hit Me Hard and Soft, recently celebrated its 52nd week on the Hot 100, making it only the second Billie Eilish song to spend a full year on this key chart of the most consumed songs in the U.S. Currently positioned at No. 44, up four spots from the previous week, the track faces the typical fate of songs hitting their one-year anniversary on the Hot 100: unless it climbs above No. 25 in the next chart update, it will likely be removed.
Despite this expected departure, “Wildflower” will continue to enjoy success on various genre-specific charts, especially in the rock and alternative categories where it remains a streaming powerhouse.
Two Year-Long Hits from the Same Album
Joining “Wildflower” in the exclusive club of Eilish’s year-long Hot 100 hits is “Birds of a Feather,” which has remained inside the chart’s top 20 for 56 weeks. Like the album itself, “Birds of a Feather” peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100, narrowly missing the top spot. In contrast, “Wildflower” debuted at No. 17 in June 2024 but never climbed higher during its year-long tenure.
“Bad Guy” No Longer Her Longest-Running Hit
For nearly five years, “Bad Guy” held the record as Eilish’s longest-charting Hot 100 success, spending 49 weeks on the list after its 2019 release. Though it remains her only No. 1 hit, that distinction for longest-charting track has now shifted to “Birds of a Feather,” which surpassed “Bad Guy” nearly two months ago.
Ongoing Success in Genre Charts
Even as “Wildflower” prepares to exit the main Hot 100, its impact is far from over. The song continues to perform strongly, ranking in the top 10 on five of Billboard’s genre-specific charts, driven by streaming momentum and airplay in rock and alternative markets.
Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft era underscores her evolution as an artist capable of sustained success, blending genre-crossing appeal with deeply personal songwriting. With two year-long Hot 100 hits from the same album, Eilish proves once again why she remains one of the most compelling and resilient voices in contemporary music.
