Jason Momoa’s 16-year-old son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, is set to make his feature film debut alongside his father in the upcoming Dune sequel. According to a report from Deadline on June 17, Nakoa-Wolf will portray Leto II, the son of Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya).
Nakoa-Wolf shares the spotlight with a newly announced cast member, Ida Brooke, who will play Ghanima—the on-screen twin sister of Leto II. Meanwhile, Jason Momoa is expected to reprise his role as Duncan Idaho, the resurrected ghola, continuing his involvement in the franchise.
Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya are also anticipated to return for the third installment, though official casting confirmations have yet to be announced.
A New Chapter Under Denis Villeneuve’s Direction
The third Dune film will be directed by Oscar-nominated Denis Villeneuve, who adapted Frank Herbert’s seminal sci-fi series for the screen. The first novel was split into two parts, with Dune: Part Two adapting the latter half. This next film, based on Herbert’s second novel Dune Messiah, picks up 12 years after the events of the initial story.
Both previous films have been critically acclaimed and award-winning successes. The original Dune garnered 10 Oscar nominations, winning six—including Best Original Score and Best Visual Effects—while Dune: Part Two earned five nominations at the 97th Academy Awards, taking home Best Sound and Best Visual Effects.
Looking Ahead
Dune: Messiah is slated for release on December 16, 2026, promising to continue the epic saga. Meanwhile, fans can catch up on the first two films, which are available to stream on Max.
Nakoa-Wolf’s casting marks an exciting new chapter for the Momoa family, joining one of Hollywood’s most high-profile franchises and stepping into the spotlight alongside his famous father.
