While Snoop Dogg is known worldwide as a rap icon and cultural powerhouse, at the heart of his success lies a steadfast commitment to family values and long-term relationships. Since marrying his high school sweetheart, Shante Taylor, in 1997, Snoop has cultivated a life centered around love, loyalty, and giving back—proving that behind the fame is a devoted family man.
A Love Story That Started in High School
Snoop Dogg and Shante Taylor’s relationship is a rare Hollywood love story that began long before the spotlight. The couple met in high school, attended prom together, and graduated in 1989 sharing dreams that have helped sustain their marriage for over two decades. In 2008, they renewed their vows, symbolizing their ongoing dedication to one another.
Shante is more than just a wife—she is also Snoop’s trusted business manager. Together, they oversee a diverse portfolio including music, acting, cannabis, spirits, and gaming. Their joint ventures reflect a true partnership. One notable initiative is The Broadus Collection, inspired by their daughter Cori’s journey battling lupus, which demonstrates how their family challenges fuel their philanthropic and entrepreneurial spirit.
A Growing Family and a Proud “Papa Snoop”
The couple has three children: Cordé (b. 1994), Cordell (b. 1997), and Cori (b. 1999). Snoop also shares a son, Julian Corrie Broadus (b. 1998), from a previous relationship. The family has expanded further with six grandchildren through Cordé and Cordell, and Snoop affectionately embraces his role as “Papa Snoop,” often stating, “My grandkids are my everything.”
Snoop’s devotion to family extends beyond everyday moments—he coaches his children’s football teams, supports Cori through her lupus diagnosis by encouraging the family to wear scarves in solidarity, and emphasizes the importance of strong parenting. His reality show, Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood (2007-2009), offered fans a rare glimpse into his family life, highlighting the real man behind the music.
Commitment to Community and Charity
Snoop’s family values also shine in his charitable work. He founded the Snoop Youth Football League in 2005, providing opportunities for at-risk youth and growing to include over 1,500 players by 2018. His efforts don’t stop there; since 2017, he’s run Snoop Special Stars, a program for children with disabilities.
His philanthropy is broad and heartfelt, supporting organizations such as Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Mothers Against Police Brutality, Habitat for Humanity, Orca Network, Save a Life Foundation, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and The Healing Circle. Notably, Snoop approaches charity with sincerity, wary of publicity stunts, focusing instead on genuine impact.
A Legacy of Fatherhood
In a 2007 interview, Snoop highlighted the importance of fatherhood: “Ninety percent of rappers grew up without fathers, but we become real men by being fathers.” This belief underscores his dedication to breaking cycles and building a legacy not just through music, but through love, family, and service.
