Tom Hiddleston’s Hilarious Plea to Directors: “Don’t Let Loki Die Again” in Avengers: Doomsday

When it comes to surviving the Marvel Cinematic Universe, few characters have proven as resilient as Loki, the “God of Mischief.” Played by Tom Hiddleston, Loki has cheated death more times than fans can easily count—ranging from three to four times, depending on who you ask. Add to that his near-death experiences throughout the Loki Disney+ series, and it’s clear the character has a knack for defying fate.
Yet, ahead of the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, Hiddleston revealed he wouldn’t mind taking a break from the whole dying-and-coming-back-again routine. During a chat with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Horowitz playfully begged the actor, “Don’t let them kill [Loki] again,” referring to the Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, who are directing the film.
Laughing, Hiddleston promised he would “tell the Russos,” sharing a lighthearted moment with fans who know just how often Loki’s life hangs in the balance.
When asked if he was happy with what he gets to play in this next Avengers installment, Hiddleston paused, grinned, and responded with a confident “yes.” He went on to express his gratitude for being part of the Marvel universe’s evolving story.
“I still feel like it’s an extraordinary privilege to still be on the team. And, there’s more stories to tell,” he said. “I feel like the character has grown as I’ve grown. It’s genuinely an honor to still be in the squad.”
While Hiddleston’s enthusiasm for returning as Loki shines through, fans can’t help but wonder if the beloved trickster will once again face death-defying odds. Hopefully, this time he can navigate Avengers: Doomsday without having to cheat death yet again—though with Loki, it’s always a gamble.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, after a delay from its original May 1, 2026 date. Marvel fans everywhere are already counting down.
