Could Tom Hiddleston be stepping onto the Dancing With the Stars ballroom floor soon? The Emmy-nominated actor, 44, revealed in an exclusive interview with Parade that joining the popular ABC dance competition show this fall is “in the mix.”

“I love dancing,” Hiddleston shared with a lighthearted tone. While he’s danced in various theater productions, he admits he’s never experienced dance “with this freedom and precision and agility and technique” that DWTS demands.

Hiddleston’s dancing skills are currently on display in the upcoming film The Life of Chuck, set for limited theatrical release on June 6. Based on Stephen King’s 2020 novella, the movie follows Charles “Chuck” Krantz through childhood, adolescence, and adulthood as he navigates life’s heartaches but finds solace and joy in dance.

Choreographed by Emmy-winning Mandy Moore—renowned for her work on DWTS and So You Think You Can Dance—the film features numerous dance sequences that took days to perfect. Hiddleston explained how King’s novella emphasizes Chuck’s deep passion and freedom through dance, even as the character ages and battles illness.

“It’s almost the most agile, the most committed, the most passionate and the most released that his joy has ever been,” Hiddleston said. The film honors Chuck’s love for classic dancers like Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, and Ginger Rogers, with choreographic nods to these legends woven into the scenes.

Despite his theater background, Hiddleston appreciated choreographer Moore’s encouragement to infuse his own personality into the dance. “Mandy would say, ‘This is you, Tom. This is your dance as well, so anything that comes out of you that feels joyful, that feels spontaneous, that feels free, let’s do that,’” he recalled.

Reflecting on the experience, Hiddleston called it “magic from start to finish” and “one of the happiest experiences of my working life.” With such enthusiasm, fans may soon see him competing for a Mirrorball Trophy on Dancing With the Stars — if he decides to take that leap.
