We Don’t Have a Relationship Anymore”: Inside 50 Cent’s Painful Estrangement from Son Marquise

Once a proud father who cited his son as his ultimate motivation, rapper and mogul 50 Cent—real name Curtis Jackson—now speaks of his oldest child, Marquise Jackson, with a heavy finality. “Me and my son, we don’t have a relationship anymore,” he has admitted candidly in interviews. That emotional distance, marked by years of public spats, custody battles, and social media jabs, remains one of the most heartbreaking chapters in the rapper’s personal life.

A Bond Broken Over Time

When Marquise was born in 1996 to 50 Cent and Shaniqua Tompkins, he became a central figure in the rapper’s early success story. By 2003, 50 Cent was one of the most influential voices in hip-hop, often crediting Marquise for giving him purpose. But by the time Marquise reached his early teens, the relationship began to fray.

According to a 2017 Rap-Up interview, Marquise cited the breakdown beginning around age 10 or 11. Custody battles followed, with a 2008 ruling granting 50 Cent limited visitation rights—one weekend per month and shared holidays. From there, a slow-burning estrangement turned explosive.

Public Disputes and Online Attacks

In 2018, the father-son rift reached new depths. When Marquise posted a photo with the son of 50 Cent’s longtime rival Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff, the rapper reacted on Instagram with a shocking comment: “If both these little n—— got hit by a bus, I wouldn’t have a bad day.” The disturbing remark, widely condemned, underscored just how fractured their relationship had become—and how public their feud was playing out.

Marquise continued to push back in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. In 2025, he appeared to shade actor Lil Meech—who has publicly defended 50 Cent—suggesting unresolved resentment remains alive and well.

The Role of Money and Motherhood

The feud isn’t just emotional; it’s also financial. 50 Cent claims to have paid over $1.3 million in child support to Tompkins over the years, plus a current $10,800 monthly payment. But money hasn’t healed wounds. The rapper has frequently blamed Tompkins for driving a wedge between him and Marquise, painting her as the source of long-standing manipulation.

Meanwhile, Marquise has repeatedly insisted his grievances aren’t about money. “Let’s just talk like men, not with dollars involved,” he said in 2022. His comments, though rare, reflect a longing to be heard rather than bought.

Moving On Without Reconciliation

As of May 2025, there’s little sign that father and son are moving toward peace. According to IB Times, 50 Cent is currently focused on building a business legacy for his youngest son, Sire, while noticeably excluding Marquise from any future plans. In the court of public opinion, this silence is deafening.

Still, reconciliation is not impossible. Marquise has expressed interest in repairing their bond—but as of now, those overtures remain unanswered.

A Modern Tragedy in the Spotlight

The Jackson family’s story is a painful reminder that fame doesn’t insulate people from fractured family dynamics. If anything, the spotlight has magnified the pain. The ongoing estrangement between 50 Cent and Marquise is more than just a celebrity rift—it’s a very public portrait of a father and son locked in a cycle of hurt, with no easy way out.

Until either side breaks that cycle, the words “we don’t have a relationship anymore” will continue to echo—loudly, and tragically.
