Speaking at Fan Expo 2024 in Toronto on August 25, Tomei shared that her favorite part of working on the franchise was watching co-stars Tom Holland and Zendaya grow both personally and professionally. “I think some of the favorite things were really just watching Tom and Zendaya grow up and watching them fall in love,” she said, as reported by People and Entertainment Weekly. “Just being, like, blown away from the get-go… I mean, I’m blown away. Some people are just meant for it, and they are meant for it.”

She highlighted their versatility, praising their talents beyond acting—calling out their abilities to sing, dance, perform stunts, and even design fashion. “They’re real people, despite the fame,” she added, touching on the authenticity the couple has maintained even under the spotlight.
The pair, who first worked together on Spider-Man: Homecoming, began as friends before their romance blossomed off-screen, much like their characters Peter Parker and MJ. They publicly confirmed their relationship in 2021, delighting fans around the world who had long admired their chemistry.
