Speaking at the inaugural Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit in Los Angeles on May 10, the 27-year-old candidly discussed the five-year process that has led to a healthier lifestyle and a more confident version of himself.

During a panel discussion with his mother, Maria Shriver, Kelly Osbourne, and host Jeff Beacher, Christopher explained how his weight had been holding him back from fully enjoying life. “It was a big process,” Christopher shared, reflecting on his struggles with weight and the changes he made to improve his health. “I started in 2019 when I was living in Australia. I was on this big trip. I made it a big [deal] like, ‘Oh, I’m going to go out and do all this stuff, be in Australia,’ and I just saw how much my weight was prohibiting me from doing the everyday activities.” He specifically mentioned how his weight prevented him from doing something as adventurous as skydiving. “I was like, ‘I want to go skydiving.’ And my friends were like, ‘Yeah, no shot.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I can’t skydive.'”

Christopher also shared that his insecurities about his weight dated back to high school, where he took steps to eat healthier by bringing customized meals to school. “I tried everything,” he recalled. “I was doing meal delivery things in high school, and I remember feeling like a weirdo when I was bringing weird lunches to school.” These early experiences shaped his relationship with food and his body, setting the stage for a long journey of trial and error in his pursuit of health.

Christopher was open about how his transformation was not an overnight success but rather a long, ongoing process. “It’s not an overnight thing, but it took a lot of trial and error,” he said. “And even still to this day … when you’re saying, oh, before and after photos … I don’t feel like I’m an after yet. I don’t feel like I’m at the point.” This level of self-awareness reflects the dedication Christopher has toward his physical and mental health, embracing the journey rather than focusing solely on a destination.

Fans began to take notice of Christopher’s progress when he was spotted in West Hollywood last month, photographed in a slim-fitting navy-blue shirt and khakis, attending dinner with his brother, Patrick Schwarzenegger. One particularly interesting moment in Christopher’s journey occurred during Lent, when he decided to give up bread as part of the 40-day Christian religious observance. “Weirdly enough, I gave up bread for Lent,” he shared during the panel. “I don’t know if anyone’s Catholic in here, but I gave up bread for Lent.” He described how this small change led to significant results, explaining, “I lost 30 pounds just through that.” Christopher admitted that while giving up bread was his primary rule for Lent, it set him on a path to a more disciplined approach to his health, one that would continue long after the religious observance.

Despite keeping his fitness journey largely private in the past, Christopher’s efforts have been recognized by his family, particularly his older brother, Patrick Schwarzenegger. In 2021, Patrick posted a now-deleted Instagram message praising Christopher for his enthusiasm and dedication to working out. “Proud of you. New job. Crushing in the gym. Whole new person. Can’t wait to see what this year brings,” Patrick wrote.
