Blake Lively’s ‘Nearly Nude’ Birth Scene Under Fire: Actor Claims Her Story Doesn’t Add Up

Amid ongoing legal battles surrounding Blake Lively’s bombshell sexual harassment lawsuit against director Justin Baldoni, actor Adam Mondschein has come forward to refute key aspects of Lively’s claims, specifically concerning an intimate birth scene in the 2024 film It Ends With Us. Mondschein, who played the OBGYN delivering Lively’s character’s baby, alleges that the depiction of the scene in Lively’s complaint is far from accurate.
Lively, in her initial lawsuit filed in 2024 and amended in February 2025, described a “violative birthing scene” that she found invasive and humiliating. She claimed that Baldoni cast his “best friend” for the role of the OBGYN, and that the scene was conducted with inadequate privacy measures, leaving her “nearly nude” and uncomfortable. Lively further claimed that Baldoni and other production members failed to close the set properly, which resulted in non-essential crew members passing through during filming.

However, Mondschein, who was hired for the role as the OBGYN, disputes these claims. Speaking exclusively to Page Six, he stated, “I was surprised to read her description of the scene,” adding that Lively’s costume for the birth scene included a full hospital gown, black shorts, and a torso-covering prosthetic designed to make her appear pregnant. He contended that Lively was never “nearly nude” and that she had ample coverage during the scene. Furthermore, Mondschein maintained that Lively never expressed discomfort during filming, calling the production process “entirely professional” and claiming no improper conduct occurred.
Mondschein also took issue with Lively’s insinuations regarding his qualifications for the role, stating, “Ms. Lively’s insinuations regarding my qualifications are offensive.” He pointed out that his acting credentials, including a Master of Fine Arts from UCLA and a history of roles in various productions, are easily verifiable. He also clarified that he was a local hire, which meant he covered his own travel and living expenses for the job.

While Lively’s legal team declined to comment on Mondschein’s statements, they referred to her previous claims in the lawsuit, where she described the set as “chaotic” and “lacking in standard industry protections for filming nude scenes.” She alleged that despite her multiple requests, she was not provided with proper coverings between takes and that non-essential crew members were allowed to walk through the set while she was partially exposed.
A source close to Lively’s case emphasized the actress’s discomfort, particularly when she learned that the actor playing her OBGYN was Baldoni’s personal friend. According to the source, this added an uncomfortable layer to the scene and made it more difficult for Lively to feel at ease during filming.
As the lawsuit continues to unfold, it’s clear that tensions between Lively and Baldoni’s camp are escalating. Baldoni has already released raw behind-the-scenes footage in an attempt to disprove Lively’s claims that he acted inappropriately during their filming of a slow-dance scene. Lively has maintained that the footage supports her version of events, calling it “damning.” Additionally, Baldoni made public several text messages between the co-stars, including one where Lively allegedly invited him to her trailer while she was “pumping.”
Mondschein has expressed his willingness to testify if called upon in the upcoming trial set for March 2026, stating that he would “answer truthfully” and provide all necessary information regarding the disputed birth scene. He stands firm in his assertion that Lively was not “nearly nude” during the scene and insists that the production was conducted in a professional manner.
As this legal drama continues to unfold, the contrasting narratives of those involved suggest that the final resolution will not be reached without significant scrutiny. For now, the dispute over the birth scene in It Ends With Us remains a key point of contention, with both sides offering starkly different accounts of the on-set experience.
