In a world often marked by conflict and division, Jason Momoa and Jack Black are bringing a much-needed message of creativity, friendship, and collaboration with A Minecraft Movie. The film, based on the wildly popular video game, had its world premiere on a sun-soaked day in London’s Leicester Square, where the cast — including Momoa, Black, Jennifer Coolidge, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and newcomer Sebastian Eugene Hansen — celebrated the movie’s launch on a vibrant green grass carpet.

The movie follows four misfit characters who are unexpectedly pulled into a quirky, cubic world full of endless possibilities. To find their way back home, they must master the game’s challenges while forging new friendships. Black, who plays the iconic character Steve, shared his thoughts on why this film is especially timely: “What the world needs now is love, sweet love,” he said, quoting the famous line from Burt Bacharach’s 1965 hit. “There’s so much violence and war and hatred. And that’s what I love about this movie — there’s a lot of love in it and there’s a lot of creativity. Yes, there’s some anger and violence too, but ultimately, it’s about friendship and working together to make the world a better place.”

Momoa, who is known for his role as Aquaman, echoed Black’s sentiments, adding, “I think everyone needs to escape a little bit right now. It’s nice to sit back and have a really fun adventure and giggle and laugh.” The actor also joked about working alongside Black, saying, “I never want to do another film with him. It was absolutely shit. He’s a fake, he’s a fraud … No, I mean he’s beyond what you want him to be.” Their playful banter highlights the camaraderie and joy that the cast shared throughout the production.

When asked what he would promise to Minecraft fans, Momoa expressed his enthusiasm for the film’s future. “We won’t let you down,” he said. “We worked our ass off for you, and I think we brought the world to life. I think everybody’s gonna love it. There’s so much more to tell; I just hope the fans will be delighted and let us make more.”

Brooks, who admitted she wasn’t a Minecraft player herself, revealed how the movie allowed her to tap into her inner child. “I didn’t grow up playing games, and it’s something I really wish I had,” she shared. “The best thing about this movie is teaching us to bring out our inner child.” Her daughter is a Minecraft fan, so the movie holds special significance for her as she shares this experience with her child.

Newcomer Hansen, who plays one of the central characters, expressed how being on set with seasoned actors was a learning experience. “I didn’t expect it, but when I first walked on set and I got to read the script, I realized I was gonna be in it,” Hansen said. “The more experienced cast members taught me that having fun is really important.”

Producer Cale Boyter added, “It’s gonna make you feel young again. I think it’s a beautiful thing to turn your brain off and lose yourself in a world where you can do the things that you can’t do in the real world.”

The film’s message is clear: in a time when the world feels fractured, A Minecraft Movie offers an opportunity to step away from the chaos and embrace creativity, fun, and collaboration. The film will hit theaters on April 4, and with its star-studded cast and heartwarming themes, it’s poised to be a box office hit.

Get ready to immerse yourself in a world where imagination reigns supreme and anything is possible — A Minecraft Movie is coming soon.
