Hollywood power couple Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost have made a significant real estate move, purchasing a luxurious penthouse in New York’s Upper East Side. The couple acquired Penthouse B at 1220 Park Avenue for $13 million, a steep discount from its original asking price of $28 million, according to public records. The deal was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Johansson, renowned for her roles in the Marvel Avengers franchise and award-winning performances in films like Lost in Translation and Marriage Story, and Jost, a longtime comedian and writer for Saturday Night Live, have been married since 2020. Their new home adds to their growing portfolio, blending their high-profile careers with an enviable urban retreat.

The property, a triplex, offers an impressive 6,000 square feet of living space, including six bedrooms, five terraces, and eight balconies. Its expansive layout offers stunning views of Central Park, and its corner living room is complemented by balconies, creating a perfect setting for enjoying the vibrant city life below. The home underwent a two-year renovation to upgrade its finishes and mechanical systems, making it a modern marvel nestled within a historic building designed by renowned architect Rosario Candela, dating back to the 1930s.

Inside, the penthouse features an oak-paneled library with a wood-burning fireplace, enhancing the space’s timeless elegance.

The sellers, Craig and Deborah Cogut, originally purchased the unit in 2006, and ultimately sold it for the same price they paid. Craig Cogut runs a private equity impact-investment firm, Pegasus Capital Advisors, based in Connecticut. The couple had listed the penthouse in 2018, but after several price reductions, the property finally sold last September.

The deal marks another instance of uptown co-ops selling below their asking prices, continuing a trend seen in the city’s luxury real estate market. Recently, a unit at 4 East 66th Street sold for $37 million, down from an initial asking price of $55 million in 2022. Similarly, Julia Koch, the widow of late billionaire David Koch, sold her co-op at 740 Park Avenue for $45 million, 25 percent below the price she had initially sought in 2022. Earlier this month, Grace Hightower, the ex-wife of actor Robert De Niro, also sold her co-op at 88 Central Park West for $18 million, following a price drop from her 2006 purchase price of $20.9 million.

Johansson and Jost’s purchase represents both an incredible real estate investment and a personal milestone in their life together. With their new penthouse overlooking one of the world’s most iconic parks, the couple seems well-positioned to enjoy the best that New York has to offer in the heart of Manhattan.
