“I guess I understood what nepotism was like inherently as a 10-year-old,” she continued, adding that it stemmed from a deep-seated desire to earn her own place in the industry. “I don’t know if I knew the word, but there is some sort of association of not earning something that I think bothered me at a very young age,” she explained. Despite these insecurities, Olsen eventually found her own way into acting, proving her talent and earning recognition for her roles in films like Martha Marcy May Marlene and Avengers: Age of Ultron, among others.

Looking back, Elizabeth also fondly recalled the sense of protection she felt from her twin sisters. “I always felt that having older twin sisters was an advantage. I felt very clear about how I was going to navigate lots of things because of watching them. I also felt very protected,” she said.
