Bruce Willis is celebrating his 70th birthday surrounded by family, and his daughter Rumer Willis has provided fans with an encouraging update on his health. As the Die Hard star continues to battle frontotemporal dementia, Rumer, 36, took to social media to reassure fans that her father is doing well.
In an Instagram Story shared during an impromptu Q&A with fans, Rumer responded to a question about her dad’s health, saying, “He’s doing great, thank you for asking.” She also reminded fans that her father’s milestone birthday was just around the corner, adding, “It is actually his 70th birthday tomorrow, so please wish my papa a big happy birthday.”

Rumer, the eldest daughter of Willis and ex-wife Demi Moore, is one of his five children, which include daughters Tallulah and Scout from his previous marriage to Moore, as well as Mabel and Evelyn from his marriage to current wife Emma Heming Willis. In 2023, Willis’ family made the heartbreaking announcement that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a condition that can affect communication and behavior.
The diagnosis has brought the Willis family closer together, with Moore also sharing insights into their approach to handling the situation. At the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival, Moore, 62, spoke candidly about the challenges of dealing with the disease. She expressed her acceptance of the reality of the situation, saying, “The disease is what the disease is. And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is.”

Moore also reflected on the importance of embracing the present, adding, “When you show up to meet them where they’re at, there is great beauty and sweetness.” She emphasized the value of spending quality time together, regardless of the challenges posed by the illness.
Earlier in February, Rumer also shared a health update during an appearance on the Loose Women chat show in the UK, where she expressed her gratitude for her parents. “He’s doing great,” she said, also noting her appreciation for the strong family foundation her parents built despite their divorce in 2000. “The thing I’m most grateful for is that even when they split up, they created such a beautiful foundation of prioritizing my sisters and I, that I never felt like I had to choose,” she said. “We were a family, and we still are very much a family, no matter what.”
Rumer’s parents, Willis and Moore, have maintained a strong co-parenting relationship, ensuring their daughters always felt supported. Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, has remained steadfast in her support, often sharing emotional moments as she navigates the complexities of caring for her husband. In a tearful interview with Today in 2023, Emma expressed the difficulty of coping with her husband’s condition, saying, “It’s hard to know” if he understands what’s happening. She also highlighted the emotional toll of dementia on families, stating, “When they say that this is a family disease, it really is.”
Bruce Willis, a Hollywood icon, was once best known for his role in the television series Moonlighting (1985), which earned him an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe. His career continued to soar with hits like Die Hard and The Fifth Element, solidifying his place in the pantheon of action stars.
As Willis celebrates his 70th birthday, surrounded by his loved ones, his family remains committed to supporting him through his ongoing health journey, cherishing the moments they have together.
