Judge Sides with Blake & Ryan: Blake Lively Scores Big Win Against Justin Baldoni

Blake Lively has emerged victorious in the latest round of her ongoing legal battle with It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. In a recent ruling, Lively secured an “attorneys’ eyes only” ruling for certain sensitive materials in the case, which involves allegations of misconduct on set and retaliatory actions taken by Baldoni. The case, which has attracted considerable public attention, is set to go to court in May 2026, but Lively has already made significant moves to protect herself and her family from potential public fallout.

Lively filed her initial complaint in December, alleging that Baldoni exhibited grossly inappropriate behavior while filming It Ends With Us, including making sexually compromising comments and forcing her into uncomfortable situations without consent. Her lawsuit also includes claims of retaliatory actions, which she asserts were part of a campaign orchestrated with Baldoni’s publicists to damage her reputation. In response, Baldoni filed a defamation lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, as well as their public relations team, accusing them of defamation, extortion, and breach of contract. The high-profile nature of the case and the celebrities involved have made this legal battle a hot topic in the media.

As the case progresses toward a courtroom showdown, Lively has taken steps to safeguard sensitive information that could potentially be leaked to the press. Her legal team requested that certain discovery material, particularly trade secrets, personal security measures, medical information, and details about third parties, be restricted to “attorneys’ eyes only.” On Thursday, Judge Lewis Liman agreed with Lively’s request, warning that the risks of leaking such information were high, given the public profiles of the parties involved. He emphasized the possibility of gossip and innuendo emerging from any leaks, which could harm the reputations of those involved.

In his ruling, Judge Liman acknowledged that while the discovery process is typically shared with the clients themselves, certain highly sensitive materials would be off-limits even to Lively and Baldoni. This ruling was made in light of the potential harm that could arise from disclosing such information to the public. However, the judge did not grant Lively’s team everything they requested. He narrowed the scope to only include materials that were “highly likely to cause a significant business, commercial, financial or privacy injury,” ensuring that only the most sensitive data would be kept private from the parties involved.

While Lively’s legal team is pleased with the victory, the ongoing legal drama is far from over. Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and their PR representative continues to make headlines, with both sides accusing the other of serious wrongdoing. As the case heads toward its May 2026 trial date, it seems that both stars are preparing for a lengthy and contentious legal battle.

For now, Lively’s win in securing “attorneys’ eyes only” access to sensitive materials is a small but significant victory in what promises to be a high-stakes legal showdown. As the discovery process continues, it remains to be seen how much more will come to light before the final court date.
