Blake Lively is back on Instagram, offering her followers a relatable “mom hack” as she balances her personal life, career, and ongoing legal challenges. On March 12, the 37-year-old actress posted a carousel of 19 photos from her recent trip to Austin, Texas, where she promoted her latest project, Another Simple Favor, at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival. Among the photos was one of Lively in a black bathing suit and matching cover-up, with an unconventional twist—she was wearing brown paper bags as shoes.
In a playful Instagram Story, Lively shared the backstory behind the creative footwear choice. “Barton Springs Park Bathroom. Your kid forgets their shoes, but you have yours on. So naturally, you give them yours. Then you mom hack…” she wrote, alongside a picture of herself seemingly holding hands with one of her daughters. “Paper Bags ✅ No Shoes ✅ No Problem ✅.” The amusing “mom hack” resonated with many, highlighting Lively’s relatable approach to motherhood while embracing her own quirky sense of humor.

Lively, who shares four children with husband Ryan Reynolds, has kept a relatively low profile since her ongoing legal battle with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni surfaced late last year. The couple, married since 2012, has three daughters—Betty (5), Inez (8), and James (10)—and welcomed their fourth child, son Olin (2), in February 2023. Despite the challenges, Lively is continuing with her career, most recently reprising her role in Another Simple Favor, alongside Anna Kendrick, in the comedic-thriller sequel.
The film’s premiere at SXSW marked Lively’s first significant public event since the lawsuit was filed. In December, she accused Baldoni and others of sexual harassment and a retaliatory smear campaign, claims that Baldoni has denied. Baldoni countersued Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist in January, alleging defamation and extortion. Despite the turbulence, Lively is focused on her professional commitments and her family, with sources close to the actress noting her growing readiness to return to the spotlight.
According to a PEOPLE source, Lively felt a bit anxious about attending the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special in February, but it was a key moment to ease back into public life. “They had many friends attending, and as soon as they arrived, they received a warm welcome. It was a great event,” the source explained.
Lively is determined to focus on the positives, with family remaining her top priority. “She knows it will be a long year with continued drama, but she’s just trying to focus on the good things. Her family is everything to her,” the insider added. As her promotional tour for Another Simple Favor ramps up, Lively is doing what many moms do—handling everything with grace, humor, and an undeniable sense of style, even if that means sporting paper bags as shoes for the day.
