Brad Pitt has once again transformed his look, this time for his upcoming action film Heart of the Beast, where the Hollywood star was spotted filming in the rugged landscapes of New Zealand. On Sunday, the 61-year-old actor was nearly unrecognizable as he sported a thick beard and a green beanie, embracing a more rugged, off-the-grid aesthetic.
Pitt was seen on set near a fire pit and a bright yellow tent, dressed in cargo pants and a camouflage-print top, perfectly fitting the outdoorsy vibe of the role. At one point, he was also seen kayaking across a lake in a green canoe, adding to the rustic feel of the setting. His focus was on his character as he filmed scenes at a campsite, chatting briefly with the film crew before getting back into character.

The actor, who quietly arrived in New Zealand last month, has been immersed in the pre-production phase for Heart of the Beast, which revolves around a former US Navy SEAL and his retired combat dog stranded in the wilderness. The stunning landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island, including Queenstown, will stand in for Alaska, where the movie is set. Notably, the iconic Milford Sound (Piopiotahi) in Fiordland will also be featured in the film, renowned for its breathtaking scenery and towering mountain peaks.
The film marks another collaboration between Pitt and filmmaker David Ayer, who previously worked together on the critically acclaimed Fury (2014). Ayer directs Heart of the Beast, while Pitt’s successful production company, Plan B, is producing the film for Paramount Pictures. The shoot is expected to last for about seven weeks, giving fans a glimpse of Pitt in action in some of New Zealand’s most beautiful and rugged locations.

This film is just one of many upcoming projects for Pitt. His new blockbuster F1, set in the high-octane world of Formula 1 racing, will hit cinemas in June. Directed by Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, F1 sees Pitt in the role of a retired champion driver who returns to challenge a rising star. The film also stars Oscar-winner Javier Bardem and The Crown’s Tobias Menzies.
As Pitt immerses himself in these diverse and physically demanding roles, it’s clear that he continues to challenge himself as an actor and producer, pushing boundaries and exploring new territory both on and off screen. Fans can look forward to seeing the star in both Heart of the Beast and F1 in the coming months, with his rugged, off-the-grid persona in New Zealand offering a glimpse into the actor’s transformation for the roles he’s taking on.
