The saga of Tommy Shelby and the Peaky Blinders is far from over, according to Steven Knight, the mastermind behind the acclaimed historical gangster drama. While fans eagerly await the feature-length “Peaky Blinders” movie, Knight has teased that the film won’t mark the end of the story—far from it.

In an exclusive interview with The Post, Knight shared exciting details about the upcoming film, which Netflix has yet to announce a release date for. Set during the tumultuous era of the Second World War, the movie will see Tommy Shelby (played by Oscar winner Cillian Murphy) take on the Nazis, the enemy of Britain in the 1940s. “It’s the Second World War, so Tommy is facing the Nazis, the enemy at the time in the 1940s,” Knight explained. “Britain was alone, fighting against Germans and Italians before America joined the war. So, he’s in a very perilous situation.”

Known for his sharp, morally complex characters, Knight also promised that the film will see Tommy confronting more than just external foes. “As ever, [Tommy] confronts his own demons – and the demons that come for him – in his own particular way,” he added.

Fans of the series know that Tommy’s journey has always been marked by personal battles as much as it has been by his rise in the criminal underworld. From his humble beginnings in post-World War I Birmingham, the show followed Tommy and his family through their rise from street gang to political influence. Now, as the world plunges into war, it seems Shelby’s most dangerous challenges are yet to come.

The movie, officially titled The Immortal Man, will see several familiar faces join Tommy in his new battle. Barry Keoghan and Dune star Rebecca Ferguson have already been announced as newcomers to the “Peaky” world. Given the war setting, it’s highly likely that Sam Claflin will reprise his role as Oswald Mosley, the leader of the British Union of Fascists and one of Tommy’s most relentless enemies. Additionally, Tom Hardy’s popular character, the Jewish gangster Alfie Solomons, is also expected to return to aid Tommy in his fight against the Nazi threat.

However, one notable character may be absent from the film. Paul Anderson, who plays Tommy’s troubled brother Arthur Shelby, is not confirmed to return, likely due to personal legal issues that have affected the production. Knight, however, remained tight-lipped on which actors would officially be reprising their roles. “I can’t give you any more information, I’m afraid, but let me put it this way: We’ve got the best possible cast of British actors that I think have ever been put together in one place, absolutely,” Knight teased.

Despite the film’s promise of wrapping up this particular chapter of the Peaky Blinders saga, Knight assured fans that this is far from the end. “The movie will end ‘this part’ of the Peaky story,” Knight confirmed. “But we will continue it.”

For those who feared that the film would be the final curtain for the Shelby clan, Knight’s comments offer hope. Whether the story will continue through spin-offs, additional films, or other formats remains unclear, but one thing is certain: the Peaky Blinders world isn’t going away anytime soon.

As we await the film’s release, it’s clear that Tommy Shelby’s story has much more to tell. The Peaky Blinders legacy is set to live on—and the Shelbys are ready to face whatever comes next.

Stay tuned for more updates on the film’s release and future developments in the Peaky Blinders universe.
