In a hilarious and unexpected mishap on the set of Secret Invasion, Emilia Clarke almost ran over her co-star Samuel L. Jackson. The actress, best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, opened up about the near-accident in a recent interview with Yahoo, recounting the moment with a mixture of humor and embarrassment.

Secret Invasion, which recently premiered on Disney+, sees Clarke portraying G’iah, the daughter of the shape-shifting alien Talos, while Jackson reprises his iconic role as Nick Fury. But it wasn’t the high-stakes action sequences of the Marvel series that nearly led to disaster—it was a simple, yet nerve-wracking, driving scene.

Clarke explained that she was asked to drive a Lada, a classic Soviet-era car that she described as having “six shift knobs” and “10 pedals,” a far cry from the modern vehicles she’s used to. “I got in and I was like, ‘Hey, what’s with the six [shift knobs] up in here? Which one am I using?’” she recalled, adding that the car felt more like a “tractor” than a proper vehicle. “I know how to drive. I know how to drive stick,” she assured, but in the heat of the moment, the pressure was on.

With the camera rolling and the shoot in full swing, Clarke was instructed to drive, but with limited time to get comfortable with the car. “They’re saying, ‘We’ve gotta go. We’re shooting. Come on, honey. Just go. We’re gonna go.’” With Jackson standing nearby, the situation escalated quickly. Clarke admitted that in the rush, she accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, putting Jackson in harm’s way.

Fortunately, the ever-gracious Samuel L. Jackson handled the situation like a true professional. Clarke described him as “very gentlemanly and lovely and nice,” showing understanding and calmness in the face of her blunder. After the close call, Clarke confessed she was a bit shaken and “cried a little bit,” but the scene wrapped up with someone else taking the wheel for her.

While the incident might have been nerve-wracking at the time, it’s now a funny and memorable story that adds to the growing camaraderie between Clarke and Jackson, two of the biggest stars in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans can now look forward to seeing their on-screen chemistry in Secret Invasion, a series that promises plenty of thrilling moments—hopefully without any more close calls on set.
