Angelina Jolie may be officially divorced from Brad Pitt, but the aftermath of their tumultuous relationship still weighs heavily on her, especially when it comes to trust. A source close to the actress recently shared exclusively with Us Weekly that while Jolie hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility of dating, she’s not in a rush to enter a serious relationship anytime soon.

“It’s hard for her to trust men after what she went through with Brad,” the source reveals. “She hasn’t sworn off men, but she’s not looking for anything serious right now.”

Jolie, who is 49, is still grappling with the emotional scars from her split with Pitt, 61. The source goes on to say that the actress doesn’t think she’ll ever fully “get over the trauma” of their relationship, which has undoubtedly impacted her perspective on love. For now, Jolie is more focused on her personal growth and feels content with the life she’s built, especially her role as a mother.

“She’s content with her children and life,” the insider explains. Jolie, who shares six children with Pitt—Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16—has been spending quality time with them, especially in New York City, where she’s been exploring art exhibits and attending Broadway shows.

The Oscar-winning actress has also been busy with her professional endeavors. “Angie has been spending more time in NYC, working on her fashion brand [Atelier Jolie] and expanding her humanitarian projects,” says the source.

Jolie and Pitt’s relationship began in 2005 when they fell in love on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Their romance grew into a high-profile, decade-long relationship, culminating in their marriage in 2014. However, just two years later, Jolie filed for divorce, citing the health of the family. The ensuing years saw a highly publicized legal battle, with custody issues and disputes over their French winery, Château Miraval, continuing long after their separation.

In the midst of their divorce, Jolie made allegations of physical and emotional abuse against Pitt, which led to an investigation by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. Pitt denied the allegations, and after a thorough investigation, he was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Though they were declared legally single in 2019, the legal wrangling over their estate and custody continued. Finally, in December 2024, their divorce was officially finalized after more than eight years of back-and-forth.

In a statement following the conclusion of the divorce, Jolie’s lawyer James Simon said, “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.” He added, “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

While Jolie is embracing her independence and focusing on her children and career, she remains cautious about trusting anyone else. It seems that for now, her primary focus is on healing, nurturing her family, and enjoying the peace she’s found in her own life.
