Jason Momoa Sends Fans Wild With Supportive Message to Henry Cavill Amid ‘Highlander’ Injury Setback

Henry Cavill has reassured fans he’s on the mend after a training injury forced a major delay to the highly anticipated Highlander reboot — and a simple, heartfelt comment from fellow star Jason Momoa has set the internet buzzing.

Cavill Updates Fans on His Recovery

On September 19, the Man of Steel and The Witcher actor shared an Instagram carousel showing life during his recovery. In the first image, Cavill is seen relaxing with his dog, Baggins. The next photo shows his bandaged ankle and foot propped on a pillow, marked by cuts and bruises from the injury that halted production.

Though Cavill didn’t directly mention Highlander, his post included lines from William Ernest Henley’s poem Invictus, a stoic declaration of resilience:

“I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.”

The post reassured fans that, while the setback is serious, Cavill remains determined to return to work.

Jason Momoa’s Five Words Ignite the Internet

Among the many comments of support, Jason Momoa — Cavill’s Justice League co-star — left a short but striking message: “Sorry bro. Get some much deserved rest.”

The five-word note immediately sparked excitement online, with fans praising the show of camaraderie between the two stars. Many noted the affectionate and casual tone, celebrating how the two actors continue to back each other even as their careers move in different directions.

Also chiming in was Warhammer designer Darren Lathan, who cheekily referenced Cavill’s upcoming passion project: “Warhammer, the great healer.”

A History of Pushing Through Pain

Unfortunately, this isn’t Cavill’s first serious on-set injury. During filming for Season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher, the actor tore his hamstring while sprinting through a forest for an action sequence. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich later described finding Cavill “in a great amount of pain,” and production had to rework fight scenes and stunts to allow him to heal.

Cavill later admitted to worrying about how the injury might affect his career as an action star:

“The difficulty was working while I was injured… I wanted to do more for the production. It was a balance between pushing and realizing if I tore this further, it could end my action career,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

The Long Road to Highlander

The Highlander reboot has been in the works for over a decade. Cavill joined the project in 2021 to play Scottish warrior Connor MacLeod, stepping in after Ryan Reynolds dropped out. The film will be directed by Chad Stahelski of John Wick fame, with a script by Michael Finch (Predators, Hitman: Agent 47).

The cast is an impressive mix of action and prestige talent, including Karen Gillan, Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang, and Dave Bautista as the formidable villain Kurgan.

At CinemaCon last year, Cavill promised fans that Stahelski’s version would honor the original films while going deeper into character and lore:

“If you thought you saw me do sword work before, you ain’t seen nothing yet!”

Release Date Pushed, But Excitement Remains

Due to Cavill’s injury, production has been delayed to 2026, pushing the film’s expected release to 2027. Despite the setback, fan enthusiasm remains strong — boosted by Cavill’s resilience and the warm show of support from his peers.

For now, Cavill seems focused on healing and returning to the set stronger than ever. And with Jason Momoa cheering him on, fans are rallying behind one of action cinema’s most beloved leading men.
