Tom Holland Says New Spider-Man Film Feels “Different” as Brand New Day Swings Into Production

OPINION: This article may contain commentary which reflects the author's opinion.

When Tom Holland pulled on the Spider-Man suit for the first day of filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, something felt different. Not just the new look — a fresh costume with a bold, larger spider emblazoned on the chest — but the energy on set.

“This is my fourth ever day one on Spider-Man,” Holland told fans in an Instagram video posted Sunday. “It feels different this time somehow. It’s also the first time we’ve ever had fans on set for day one. So, it’s really exciting to share this with them. I’m just going to do my best. Hopefully get it right. No pressure.”

Filming for the Sony/Marvel collaboration began earlier this month under the direction of Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), with returning screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Plot details are still under wraps, but the sequel will pick up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which ended with Peter Parker’s identity erased from the memories of everyone he knows — including MJ (Zendaya).

The set buzz was amplified by a star-studded cast. Alongside Holland, Brand New Day will feature Mark Ruffalo reprising his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Michael Mando returning as the Scorpion, and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. Rising star Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) also joins the ensemble.

Holland’s video gave fans more than just words — it offered a glimpse of him mid-stunt, ending with a breathless, “Wow, that was a really good one. That felt sick.”

For an actor who has worn the mask since Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) — and swung through Far From Home (2019) and No Way Home (2021) — the sense of novelty might seem surprising. But with a new suit, fresh faces, and a live audience cheering him on, Brand New Day looks set to give Holland, and his fans, a Spider-Man experience they won’t soon forget.

Do you want me to also craft a short, punchy headline and subheading so it reads like a front-page entertainment feature? That would give it even more magazine or news-site polish.
