Jason Momoa Plans to Open a Pub in Edinburgh—And It’s Not Just About Whisky!

Hollywood star Jason Momoa, best known for his roles in Game of Thrones and Aquaman, is eyeing a new venture that might surprise some fans but make perfect sense for his adventurous spirit. In a recent chat with the Sunday Mail, the actor hinted at a possible whisky business in Scotland, while also playfully mentioning his interest in the rich culture and pub scene of Edinburgh.

I kind of feel like I need to visit Scotland and sample a few of the finest single malts,” Momoa joked, before adding, “Purely for business interests only, of course.” Known for his fun-loving personality and charisma, it seems that Momoa’s interest in whisky isn’t just a passing thought. He noted his fondness for London’s vibrant pub scene and teased that Scotland’s bars might offer an equally exciting experience, suggesting that his upcoming adventure might involve opening a pub in the historic city.

The idea of a whisky venture might seem unconventional for a man famous for playing the rugged, grinning Aquaman, but his onscreen persona has long embraced unexpected moments, including one famous scene where Aquaman downs an entire bottle of whisky while rocking out to The White Stripes. In fact, the fictional whisky brand from that iconic moment, McMurdie Castle, recently sold at auction for $585, and Momoa’s reference to Scotland’s whisky tradition fits snugly with his bold and charismatic on-screen characters.

While the actor’s whisky plans remain a mystery, the timing of his comments is intriguing. His vodka brand, Meili, has been gaining momentum, with a major launch countdown currently ticking down on the website—set to culminate on July 3. The brand, which Momoa co-founded with designer Blake Halvorson, features vodka distilled from water sourced from a 300-million-year-old aquifer, and its eco-friendly approach is evident in the use of 100% recycled materials for the bottles. Meili, which has earned positive reviews for its sweet, grassy taste, is already widely available, demonstrating the actor’s ability to build a successful spirits brand.

This potential move into whisky wouldn’t be the first time Momoa has explored the world of alcoholic beverages. Back in 2016, he partnered with Guinness to create a limited-edition sour beer, “The Mano,” during his time filming Game of Thrones in Northern Ireland. The beer, which incorporated elements of Momoa’s Hawaiian heritage, was met with positive reviews, and if Momoa were to revisit beer or whisky in the near future, it’s safe to say that fans would be excited for whatever comes next.

With such a track record of successful ventures and his larger-than-life personality, there’s no telling what Jason Momoa might do next. Whether it’s raising a glass of single malt in Scotland or opening a pub in Edinburgh, one thing is for sure: it’s bound to be a memorable adventure. Fans will be watching closely as the countdown to his next big announcement ticks down.
