Queen Latifah’s Robyn McCall Was Set for a Wild Wedding in Season 6—But CBS Canceled the Show!

In a year of sweeping network cancellations, CBS has delivered another blow to loyal viewers, officially ending The Equalizer after five seasons. The Queen Latifah-led reboot, which reimagined the classic franchise with a fierce, emotionally grounded twist, aired its series finale on May 4. While fans got a dramatic send-off, they were also left with a bittersweet taste—especially after showrunner Joe Wilson revealed what Season 6 had in store.

The final episode saw Robyn McCall (Queen Latifah) and Dante (Tory Kittles) on a romantic getaway interrupted by danger, as Salazar (Juan Javier Cardenas) tracked them down. Dante was shot in the chaos, and as he faded into unconsciousness, he proposed to Robyn. Her answer—an emotional “yes”—offered a glimpse of hope. But now, that hope has been dashed, as CBS pulled the plug before fans could see what was next.

According to Wilson, the sixth season would have featured a show-stopping wedding. “There are wedding bells,” he told TV Insider prior to the show’s cancellation. “It is going to be crazier than the proposal. It is feature worthy.” Wilson hinted that the wedding wouldn’t just be emotional—it would have packed serious action, drama, and cinematic scale, staying true to the show’s signature blend of suspense and heart.

But it wasn’t just a wedding fans were robbed of. Season 6 was also set to explore Robyn and Dante’s evolving dynamic, possibly as a couple balancing romance and vigilantism. There were plans to maintain the beloved family core of the series—particularly the powerful bond between Robyn, her daughter Delilah, and Aunt Vi—even with Delilah heading off to college.

“We don’t want to lose that,” Wilson emphasized. “Those three generations of Black women and their strength and support—that’s the core of the show.”

While it remains uncertain whether another network or streaming service will pick up the story, fans are left mourning the abrupt end of a show that blended action with emotional authenticity. Queen Latifah has since promised to “kick ass” again in future roles, signaling that while Robyn McCall’s chapter may be closed, her spirit lives on.

For now, though, the aisle awaits—forever unseen.
