Celebrity hairstylist Barry Lee Moe, known for his work with major stars like Jennifer Lopez, is expressing his deep gratitude after surviving a harrowing car accident that left his vehicle—and much of his personal and professional belongings—reduced to ashes. The two-time Emmy winner took to social media to recount the terrifying incident, thanking Lopez and others for their support during his ordeal.

Moe, who has styled celebrities for years and worked on major projects like Atlas, POSE, and Pam & Tommy, was driving along Interstate 40 near Amarillo, Texas, on his way back to Los Angeles when his Jeep unexpectedly caught fire. He shared the heart-wrenching details of the incident in an emotional Instagram post, explaining how the fire consumed his vehicle and most of his belongings in a matter of minutes.

“My little Jeep caught fire while driving down I-40 near Amarillo, Texas on the legendary Route 66,” Moe wrote. “It was a fire so powerful, that it took my jeep, my most treasured personal belongings, and a large portion of my professional kit. In less than 30 minutes, I watched a corner of my world disappear before my eyes.”

The stylist, who had just finished a three-month location shoot, had been documenting his road trip when the journey abruptly turned disastrous. “On Monday, I was halfway home to LA, when my trip abruptly ended,” he said. Despite the loss of his vehicle and gear, Moe remained thankful for the support he received, particularly from Jennifer Lopez and her team.

In his post, Moe expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who came to his rescue during the crisis. “Thank you to everyone who came to my rescue in the last 48 hours,” he wrote. “I am truly blessed to be surrounded with so much love and I am so grateful for all of you.” He specifically thanked the staff at the Barfield Hotel in Amarillo, who took him in “like family,” and Lopez’s team, who helped get him safely back to Los Angeles. “I love you all,” he added.

Moe also shared a powerful message reflecting on the emotional impact of the incident. “Life is so fragile, and to walk away from this incident without injury is truly a miracle,” he shared. “My entire outlook on life has changed for the better and in a strange way, I feel reborn.”

He acknowledged the difficulties that come with a public career, noting that behind the polished posts and achievements, there are often “sleepless nights, struggles, and tears.” Moe’s post served as a reminder of the importance of compassion and community, something he feels more strongly about than ever before. “We need compassion and community more than ever before,” he wrote.

Moe ended his message with a powerful reminder to live in the present and cherish every moment: “Life is happening right now. Embrace the present, live your life with purpose, and LOVE freely & fully, because we only get one chance to do this.”

Although the fire destroyed his vehicle and possessions, Moe’s resilience and gratitude for those around him paint a hopeful picture of strength in the face of adversity. With the love and support of his friends, colleagues, and especially Jennifer Lopez, Moe has turned a devastating experience into a powerful reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of community.
