Jennifer Lopez and Emme’s Stylish Broadway Date Night – How They Supported Clooney’s New Stage Role

Jennifer Lopez made a stylish appearance with her 17-year-old daughter, Emme Maribel Muñiz, at George Clooney’s Broadway debut this week. The pair donned coordinating black tie outfits with a vintage velvet flair, turning heads as they arrived to support Lopez’s former Out of Sight co-star.

Clooney, 63, is starring in a stage adaptation of Good Night, and Good Luck, the 2005 film he co-wrote and directed, which chronicled CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow’s famous takedown of Senator Joseph McCarthy. In the Broadway production, Clooney steps into the lead role of Murrow, a character originally portrayed by David Strathairn, who received an Oscar nomination for his performance.

For Clooney, this marks his first time on a New York stage. Previously, the actor made his theatrical debut in Los Angeles with Vicious in 1986, later taking it to Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre. Reflecting on his choice to adapt Good Night, and Good Luck for Broadway, Clooney cited the current challenges facing journalism as a motivating factor. “It seemed like a good time to remind ourselves how important journalism is to all of us and what a terrible state the country would be in without the Fourth Estate,” he told Vulture.

Lopez and Clooney share a long-standing connection, having starred together in the 1998 Steven Soderbergh film Out of Sight. Over two decades later, the two actors remain close, with Lopez lending her star power to support Clooney’s theater endeavor.

Accompanied by Emme, whom Lopez describes as her “best date,” the This Is Me… Now singer posted on Instagram to share a snapshot of their Broadway night out. Lopez has often spoken about the deep bond she shares with her children. “It’s unconditional love. I know everybody feels this way about their kids, but I just feel like they’re super special. I can’t wait to see what they do,” she told PEOPLE in 2020.

Born in 2008, Emme and her twin brother Max are Lopez’s children with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
