Blake Lively’s Legal Drama Escalates – Justin Baldoni Fights Back Against Motion to Dismiss Lawsuit!

In the ongoing legal battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, Baldoni’s legal team is pushing back against Ryan Reynolds’ motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed against them. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Thursday, April 3, Baldoni’s attorneys are arguing that Reynolds should not be able to escape liability for his alleged role in the case, asserting that his involvement goes beyond that of a mere supportive spouse.
Baldoni’s legal team contends that Reynolds, 48, is pretending that the lawsuit’s claims against him are without merit. In the filing, Baldoni’s attorneys assert that the Wayfarer Parties’ First Amended Complaint (FAC) contains ample evidence of Reynolds’ involvement, not just as a bystander, but as a “co-conspirator.” The motion also argues that if Reynolds’ request for dismissal is rejected, the actor should not be entitled to recover any attorney’s fees.
In response, a spokesperson for Reynolds issued a statement to Us Weekly, defending the actor and his support of Lively. “The main takeaway from the Wayfarer Parties’ opposition to Ryan’s motion to dismiss their case is that they finally realize the plain defects in their complaint,” the statement read. The representative went on to criticize the lawsuit for lacking specifics, including failing to identify who was allegedly defamed or detailing the harm caused by the supposed defamatory actions. Reynolds’ team further emphasized that unlike Baldoni, who “built his brand pretending to be a man who is ‘confident enough to listen’ to the women in his life,” Reynolds genuinely embodies these traits and will continue to support his wife as she faces accusations of harassment and retaliation.
Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, also weighed in on the case, addressing Reynolds’ filing in a statement issued the same day. Freedman condemned the attempt to dismiss the case, arguing that Lively and her circle of Hollywood elites should not be able to prevent Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties from clearing their names. “What Ms. Lively is attempting to do is to set a dangerous precedent by barring the courthouse doors to my clients and punishing them for having their day in court, a right protected by the First Amendment,” Freedman stated. He described the motion as an attack on the U.S. justice system, claiming that it seeks to shield powerful individuals from accountability while weakening Americans’ constitutional rights.
The legal drama between Baldoni and Lively began in December 2024, when Lively accused Baldoni, her It Ends With Us co-star and director, of sexual harassment and allegedly masterminding a smear campaign against her. Baldoni has denied the allegations, responding by filing a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and Lively’s publicist. Lively and Reynolds have both sought to have the lawsuit dismissed, while the publicist has requested to be removed from the case altogether.
As the legal proceedings continue, both parties are entrenched in a high-stakes battle, with serious implications for their reputations and public images. The case not only involves accusations of harassment and defamation but also raises questions about the limits of legal accountability for powerful Hollywood figures.
