Cillian Murphy, known for his iconic role as Thomas Shelby in Peaky Blinders, has embraced the changing seasons with a new playlist aptly titled Spring Sessions. Released on March 31st via his production company, Big Things Films, the 23-track playlist offers an eclectic mix of songs that capture the essence of spring and the vibrant energy that accompanies the season.
The playlist, shared with fans through a post on Big Things Films’ Instagram, marks the official arrival of spring, with the company writing, “We made it – it’s officially spring! It’s beginning to bloom here at Big Things, so here’s a fresh new playlist from Cillian to bring in the brighter days. Enjoy.”
The collection includes a blend of tracks from a variety of genres, showcasing Murphy’s diverse musical tastes. From the classic feel of Feel Flows by The Beach Boys to the raw energy of Love of Country by The Murder Capital, the playlist also features the introspective People Watching by Sam Fender and the powerful Flood by Little Simz, offering something for every listener.
Murphy, who founded Big Things Films alongside Irish producer Alan Moloney, has been busy with several projects. Last November, the production company released Small Things Like These, a historical drama based on Claire Keegan’s novel. The film follows Murphy’s character, Bill Furlong, a coal merchant who becomes an unwitting witness to the horrors of a Magdalene Laundry in a small Irish town.
The company’s upcoming production, Steve, will see Murphy return to the screen as a headteacher struggling with both his mental health and his ability to discipline his students. Based on Max Porter’s novel Shy, Steve promises to be a gripping exploration of personal and professional challenges. However, the release date for the film has yet to be confirmed.
As Murphy continues to expand his career both in front of and behind the camera, his Spring Sessions playlist offers fans a glimpse into the music that inspires him, while also setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting year ahead.
