Donations and grants so far have included support for young people in his home region and national contributions for student instruments, as well as a half-million-dollar pledge to civil rights and music equity organizations.
His father’s response reframes the current narrative: not as a request for the erasure of the past, but as a case for judging a person by the decisions made after the harm is done.
The argument is that accountability is not measured in slogans — it is measured in action, ownership, and sustained contribution.
