Woman ‘Left in Shock’ After Her Luke Combs Halloween Look Goes Viral — and Gets a Surprise TikTok Comment

When Kathy Leanos walked into a local country-themed bar this Halloween, she assumed only a handful of people would even recognize what she was dressed as.

Instead — the Downey, California native wound up going viral worldwide.

A Simple Idea — and a Fully Committed Look

The 28-year-old — a longtime Luke Combs fan — told PEOPLE she spent days trying to decide on a costume. In the end, she chose to embody the chart-topping country star himself.

She got the basics online:
a beard, a Columbia shirt, a microphone — and a camo hat.

Her sister even laminated a copy of Combs’ Getting Old album so she could carry it around, just in case people weren’t sure who she was.

“I didn’t even try the costume on until the day of,” she said, adding she was determined to win the bar’s costume contest.

TikTok Sees It — Then Luke Combs’ Team Sees It

Before heading out, Leanos filmed a short TikTok to Luke Combs’ song “1, 2 Many.” She posted it on October 12.

Then it happened.

The video began to spread quickly… and then it exploded.

Within hours, the clip was being shared thousands of times — ultimately climbing past 1.2 million views.

But the moment everything changed came in her comment notifications.

On her screen: a message from the official Luke Combs TikTok account.

“Kathy you ATE with this 👏🤣 10/10 no notes”

Leanos says her sister literally woke her up to tell her the video was taking off.

“I didn’t believe her until I saw all the notifications,” she told PEOPLE. “I honestly cried a little when I saw Luke’s team had commented.”

Comment Section Turns Into Comedy Gold

Fans began joking that she needed to tour now.

“Close enough… can we get concerts on the west coast?” one person wrote.

Another: “So when’s the concert??”

Leanos says she and her entire family have been laughing at the comment thread every day since.

Halloween Creativity is Nothing New for Her

This wasn’t a rare moment of inspiration — Halloween is her creative season.

“Every Halloween I like to go all out and cosplay,” she said. She also helps friends and family with makeup and effects. While Minnie Mouse remains her all-time favorite costume, Luke Combs has now become a very close second.

And when the view count jumped past 1 million — twice — in under 48 hours, she was stunned.

“I thought the views and likes were going to stop,” she said. “I’m still in shock to this day.”
